Air Fryer Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus
Tender asparagus bundles wrapped in crispy, caramelized bacon — an elegant side dish or show-stopping appetizer that takes five minutes to assemble and delivers every single time. The bacon bastes the asparagus as it cooks, adding incredible savouriness.
⏱ 20 minServes 4American
Ingredients
- •1 lb fresh asparagus spears, woody ends trimmed
- •8 bacon strips
- •1 tbsp olive oil
- •½ tsp garlic powder
- •¼ tsp black pepper
- •1 tbsp brown sugar
- •1 tbsp balsamic glaze, for serving
Directions
- 1Divide trimmed asparagus into 8 small bundles of 4–5 spears each.
- 2Toss bundles with olive oil, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- 3Sprinkle a pinch of brown sugar along each strip of bacon, then wrap one bacon strip around each asparagus bundle in a tight spiral, securing the ends underneath.
- 4Preheat air fryer to 400°F (205°C) for 3 minutes.
- 5Place bundles seam-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving a little space between them.
- 6Air fry for 9–11 minutes, flipping carefully halfway through, until bacon is crispy and asparagus is tender-crisp.
- 7Arrange on a platter, drizzle with balsamic glaze, and serve immediately.
💡 Choose medium-thickness asparagus — thin spears overcook before the bacon crisps, and very thick spears stay tough. Regular-cut bacon works best here; thick-cut bacon may not fully crisp in the time the asparagus needs. Balsamic glaze is available in the vinegar aisle at most Canadian grocery stores.
