All-Purpose Barbecue Dry Rub
A smoky-sweet spice blend to rub onto pork ribs, pork shoulder, or chicken before grilling or smoking; mix once and store in a jar for months.

Ingredients
- •1/4 cup smoked paprika
- •3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- •2 tablespoons kosher salt
- •1 tablespoon coarse black pepper
- •1 tablespoon garlic powder
- •1 tablespoon onion powder
- •1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions
- 1Measure all ingredients into a medium bowl.
- 2Whisk or stir thoroughly until the brown sugar is fully broken up and the mixture is uniform in color with no clumps.
- 3Press any remaining sugar lumps against the side of the bowl with the back of a spoon and stir again.
- 4Transfer the rub to a clean, dry glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and seal it.
- 5Label the jar with the date; store at room temperature away from heat and light for up to 6 months.
💡 Use about 1 tablespoon of rub per pound of meat, patting it on firmly at least 15 minutes before cooking for best adhesion.
