Ingredients
- •1 cup all-purpose flour
- •1/2 cup butter, softened
- •1/4 cup granulated sugar
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •1 cup sliced almonds
- •1/2 cup butter
- •1/2 cup brown sugar
- •2 tablespoons honey
- •1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2Mix flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt until crumbly, then press firmly into the prepared pan. Bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
- 3In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and honey over medium heat, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and stir in almond extract and salt.
- 4Fold sliced almonds into the butter mixture, then spread evenly over the baked base.
- 5Bake for 15-18 minutes until the topping is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
- 6Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then cut into 16 squares and cool completely on a wire rack.
💡 Cool almond bars fully before cutting because the nut filling stays fragile while warm and tends to pull away from the short base.
