Aloo Paratha

Crispy, flaky Indian flatbread stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes, perfect for breakfast or lunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons ghee or oil

Directions

  1. 1Mix flour, salt, and water to form a soft dough. Knead well and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. 2Combine mashed potatoes with green chili, cilantro, cumin seeds, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. 3Divide dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a thin circle.
  4. 4Place 2 tablespoons of potato filling in the center of each dough circle, fold edges inward, and gently roll into a paratha.
  5. 5Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and cook each paratha for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown spots appear.
  6. 6Brush with ghee while cooking and flip multiple times to ensure even cooking and flakiness.
  7. 7Serve hot with yogurt, pickles, or curry of your choice.
