Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. 2Whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. 3In another bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. 4Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined, then stir in walnuts.
  5. 5Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. 6Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
