Bangers and Mash

Juicy pork sausages served over creamy mashed potatoes with rich onion gravy.

Ingredients

  • 8 pork sausages
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste salt and black pepper

Directions

  1. 1Boil potatoes in salted water for 15-18 minutes until tender, then drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth.
  2. 2Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large skillet and cook sausages over medium heat for 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and cooked through.
  3. 3In another pan, sauté sliced onions in butter until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  4. 4Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute, then add beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, simmering for 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. 5Season mashed potatoes and gravy with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. 6Divide mashed potatoes among plates, top with sausages, and pour onion gravy over everything.
