Ingredients
- •200g butter, softened
- •200g sugar
- •4 eggs
- •200g all-purpose flour
- •50g cocoa powder
- •1 tsp baking powder
- •1 tsp vanilla extract
- •150ml whole milk
- •200g dark chocolate, chopped
- •100g pearl sugar
- •pinch salt
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a Baumkuchen mold thoroughly. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time.
- 2Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, stirring in vanilla extract.
- 3Pour batter into the mold until three-quarters full. Bake for 35-40 minutes until a skewer comes out clean, then cool slightly and turn out onto a wire rack.
- 4Melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl over hot water or microwave, then spread evenly over the cooled cake, working quickly.
- 5Sprinkle pearl sugar over the wet chocolate coating immediately, allowing it to partially sink into the glaze as it sets.
- 6Let the cake cool completely before serving, allowing the chocolate to harden fully for the best texture.
