BBQ Chicken Pizza
Smoky, sweet BBQ sauce stands in for tomato, topped with tender chicken, red onion, and stretchy mozzarella for a tangy twist on pizza night. A longtime Canadian household favourite.
⏱ 40 minServes 4American
Ingredients
- •500 g store-bought pizza dough
- •0.5 cup your favourite BBQ sauce (e.g. KC Masterpiece or Bull's-Eye)
- •2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
- •1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- •0.5 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- •0.5 cup smoked Gouda or cheddar, shredded
- •0.25 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
- •1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside.
- 2Toss shredded chicken with 3 tbsp of the BBQ sauce until evenly coated; set aside.
- 3Stretch dough to a 12-inch round on parchment paper and brush edges with olive oil.
- 4Spread remaining BBQ sauce over dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
- 5Scatter mozzarella and Gouda evenly, then distribute BBQ chicken and red onion slices on top.
- 6Slide onto hot stone and bake 11–14 minutes until crust is deep golden and cheese is bubbly.
- 7Top with fresh cilantro immediately after pulling from the oven, then slice.
💡 A rotisserie chicken from the grocery store works perfectly here and saves significant time. Skip cilantro if your family isn't fans — sliced green onion is a great swap.
