Black Forest Cherry Cake
A decadent chocolate cake layered with whipped cream and sweet cherries, topped with chocolate shavings for an elegant dessert.

Ingredients
- •1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- •3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- •2 cups sugar
- •2 teaspoons baking soda
- •1 teaspoon salt
- •2 large eggs
- •1 cup strong black coffee
- •1/2 cup vegetable oil
- •2 cups heavy whipping cream
- •3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- •2 cans pitted cherries in syrup, drained
- •2 ounces dark chocolate, shaved
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- 2Whisk together eggs, coffee, and oil, then pour into the dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Divide batter between prepared pans.
- 3Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 15 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- 4Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread half the whipped cream on top.
- 5Arrange half the cherries over the cream, then place the second cake layer on top. Spread remaining cream on top and arrange remaining cherries.
- 6Garnish with chocolate shavings and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
