Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 pound pasta

Directions

  1. 1Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat and sauté diced onion until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. 2Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. 3Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes, then add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and basil. Bring to a simmer.
  4. 4Reduce heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in milk and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. 5Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions in salted boiling water. Drain and serve topped with Bolognese sauce.
