Brezel with Sausage

Ingredients
- •2 fresh soft pretzels or brezels
- •2 bratwurst or knockwurst sausages
- •2 tablespoons butter
- •2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
- •1/4 cup sauerkraut
- •2 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese (optional)
- •1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- •to taste Salt and pepper
Directions
- 1Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the sausages for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- 2Warm the pretzels by wrapping in foil and heating in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes, or slice and toast them lightly.
- 3Slice the cooked sausages in half lengthwise or leave whole, depending on preference.
- 4Slice the warm pretzels horizontally and butter the insides.
- 5Spread mustard on the pretzel bottoms, add the sausage, top with sauerkraut and cheese if desired.
- 6Close the pretzel and serve immediately with additional mustard on the side.
