Caramel Cake
A rich and moist layer cake with decadent caramel frosting and gooey caramel sauce throughout.

Ingredients
- •2 cups all-purpose flour
- •2 teaspoons baking powder
- •1/2 teaspoon salt
- •1/2 cup butter, softened
- •1 cup brown sugar
- •2 large eggs
- •1 cup buttermilk
- •1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- •1 cup caramel sauce
- •1/2 cup butter
- •1 cup brown sugar
- •1/2 cup heavy cream
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- 2Cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla.
- 3Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks.
- 4Prepare frosting by heating butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly for 3-4 minutes until caramelized. Remove from heat and stir in cream until smooth. Cool for 15 minutes.
- 5Place one cake layer on a plate and drizzle with caramel sauce. Spread frosting over it, then top with second layer.
- 6Frost the top and sides of cake with remaining frosting, then drizzle with additional caramel sauce. Chill before serving.
