Ingredients

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 150g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 60ml whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. 2Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. 3Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and caraway seeds.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. 5Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
  6. 6Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. 7Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. 8Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
