Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup stone-ground cornmeal grits
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Directions

  1. 1Bring milk, chicken broth, salt, and pepper to a boil in a large pot.
  2. 2Slowly whisk in the grits, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  3. 3Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the grits are creamy and thick.
