Chicken Teriyaki Donburi

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Directions

  1. 1Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook chicken pieces until golden and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. 2Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. 3In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, mirin, cornstarch, and water.
  4. 4Pour the sauce over the chicken and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  5. 5Divide cooked rice into serving bowls and top with teriyaki chicken and sauce.
  6. 6Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
