Crispy, golden fried pastries dusted with cinnamon sugar, perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2.5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. 1Heat water, sugar, and salt in a saucepan until boiling, then remove from heat and stir in flour until a thick dough forms.
  2. 2Heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep pan or fryer.
  3. 3Transfer dough to a churrera or piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  4. 4Pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough directly into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes total.
  5. 5Remove churros with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. 6Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl, then coat warm churros generously.
  7. 7Serve immediately with chocolate sauce for dipping.
