Churros with Chocolate
Crispy fried pastry sticks dusted with cinnamon sugar, perfect for dipping in rich, velvety hot chocolate.

Ingredients
- •1 cup all-purpose flour
- •1 cup water
- •1/2 teaspoon salt
- •2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- •2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
- •1/4 cup granulated sugar
- •1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- •2 cups whole milk
- •6 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- •2 tablespoons sugar
Directions
- 1Heat 1 cup water with salt and 2 tablespoons oil in a pot until boiling, then remove from heat and stir in flour until a thick dough forms.
- 2Heat 2 quarts of oil in a deep pan to 375°F. Transfer dough to a churrera or piping bag with a large star tip.
- 3Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side, then drain on paper towels.
- 4Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow dish, then coat warm churros generously in the mixture.
- 5Heat milk and chocolate in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth, then add sugar to taste.
- 6Serve churros hot with the warm chocolate sauce for dipping.
