Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb cipolline onions, peeled
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. 1Heat olive oil in a wide skillet and add the cipolline onions.
  2. 2Brown the onions for 6 minutes, turning occasionally.
  3. 3Add vinegar, sugar, salt, and water.
  4. 4Cover and simmer for 12 minutes.
  5. 5Uncover and cook 5 minutes until the liquid becomes a glossy glaze.
  6. 6Serve warm or at room temperature.
