Ingredients

  • 1 pound bread, cubed and dried
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. 2Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then sauté diced onion and celery until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3Add sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir for 1 minute.
  4. 4Place bread cubes in a large bowl, pour the vegetable mixture over them, then toss gently.
  5. 5Gradually add chicken broth while tossing until the mixture is moist but not soggy.
  6. 6Transfer to prepared baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown.
