Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 8 oz milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds, finely chopped

Directions

  1. 1Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. 2Combine butter, sugar, and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. 3Stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. 4Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared pan, sprinkle salt evenly, and let cool for 2 minutes.
  5. 5Scatter chopped chocolate over the warm toffee and let sit for 1 minute until melted, then spread smoothly.
  6. 6Sprinkle chopped almonds over the chocolate and press gently.
  7. 7Cool completely at room temperature, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
