Ingredients
- •2 cups granulated sugar
- •3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- •1/2 cup butter
- •2/3 cup evaporated milk
- •1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions
- 1Mix sugar, cocoa powder, butter, and evaporated milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
- 2Stir constantly until the mixture reaches 238°F (soft-ball stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10-12 minutes.
- 3Remove from heat and let cool to 110°F without stirring, about 10 minutes.
- 4Add vanilla extract and salt, then beat vigorously with a wooden spoon for 5-8 minutes until mixture thickens and loses its gloss.
- 5Stir in powdered sugar until fully combined.
- 6Pour into a buttered 8x8 inch baking pan and let set at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
- 7Cut into 16 squares and serve.
