Cranberry Scones

Ingredients
- •2 cups all-purpose flour
- •1/4 cup sugar
- •1 tablespoon baking powder
- •1/2 teaspoon salt
- •6 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
- •3/4 cup fresh or dried cranberries
- •1 teaspoon orange zest
- •3/4 cup heavy cream
- •1 egg
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest in a large bowl.
- 3Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs, then fold in cranberries.
- 4In a small bowl, whisk together cream and egg, then add to dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
- 5Turn dough onto a floured surface, gently knead 2-3 times, then pat into a 1-inch thick round and cut into 8 wedges.
- 6Place scones on baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- 7Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes and serve warm with jam and clotted cream if desired.
