Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. 3Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. 4Whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla, then stir into dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. 5Turn dough onto a floured surface, gently shape into a 1-inch thick round, and cut into 8 wedges.
  6. 6Place scones on prepared baking sheet, brush with milk, and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
