Ingredients

  • 2 lbs russet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. 1Peel and grate the potatoes, then squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel.
  2. 2Melt butter and mix with grated potatoes, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  3. 3Using a tater tot maker or your hands, form the mixture into 2-inch cylinders and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. 4Freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  5. 5Heat oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F.
  6. 6Carefully fry the frozen tots in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.
