Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  3. 3Beat in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. 5Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. 6Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. 7Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  8. 8Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
