Dulce de Leche Cake

A heavenly layer cake with creamy dulce de leche filling and frosting that's rich, sweet, and utterly irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups dulce de leche
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch round cake pans. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. 2Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour, then stir in vanilla.
  3. 3Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks.
  4. 4Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold in 1 cup of dulce de leche to create frosting.
  5. 5Place one cake layer on a plate and spread with dulce de leche frosting. Top with second layer and frost the top and sides with remaining frosting.
  6. 6Drizzle the remaining ½ cup dulce de leche over the top of the cake for decoration. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
