Ingredients

  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 250ml warm water
  • 100ml warm milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

  1. 1Mix flour, yeast, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  2. 2Add warm water and milk, stirring until you have a thick, smooth batter with a consistency like pancake batter.
  3. 3Cover and let rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until bubbly.
  4. 4Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly oil crumpet rings or metal molds.
  5. 5Pour batter into rings until half-full and cook for 4-5 minutes until the top sets and holes appear.
  6. 6Remove rings and flip crumpets, cooking another 1-2 minutes until golden on the bottom.
  7. 7Serve warm with butter, jam, or honey.
