Fish and Chips Sandwich

Ingredients
- •1 cup all-purpose flour
- •1 cup beer or sparkling water
- •1 teaspoon baking powder
- •1 pound cod or halibut fillets
- •2 large potatoes
- •4 slices white bread
- •1/2 cup tartar sauce
- •2 tablespoons malt vinegar
- •to taste salt and pepper
- •2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Directions
- 1Cut potatoes into thick fries, soak in cold water for 15 minutes, then pat dry and fry in oil at 325°F for 5 minutes; drain and set aside.
- 2Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper; whisk in beer until smooth to create batter.
- 3Heat oil to 375°F and dip fish fillets in batter, then fry for 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy; drain on paper towels.
- 4Increase oil temperature to 375°F and fry reserved potatoes for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy; season with salt.
- 5Spread tartar sauce on bread slices and layer with battered fish, then top with chips and vinegar.
- 6Serve immediately while fish and chips are hot and crispy.
