Ingredients

  • 1 pound white fish fillets (cod or mahi-mahi)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beer
  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 limes
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • oil for frying

Directions

  1. 1Mix flour, beer, salt, and cayenne pepper in a bowl until smooth to create batter.
  2. 2Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  3. 3Pat fish dry and cut into strips, then dip in batter and fry 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. 4Combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, and juice from 1 lime in a small bowl for crema sauce.
  5. 5Toss shredded cabbage with juice from remaining lime and a pinch of salt.
  6. 6Warm tortillas in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side.
  7. 7Assemble tacos by placing fish on tortillas, topping with cabbage slaw and drizzling with crema sauce.
