Fried Calamari

Crispy golden-brown squid rings with a tender interior, perfect for dipping in marinara sauce or aioli.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs squid, cleaned and cut into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup marinara sauce for serving

Directions

  1. 1Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a shallow bowl.
  3. 3Pat squid rings dry with paper towels, then dip in milk followed by the flour mixture, coating evenly.
  4. 4Carefully place coated squid rings into hot oil in small batches, frying for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. 5Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. 6Serve immediately with lemon wedges and marinara sauce for dipping.
