Ingredients

  • •8 oz halloumi cheese
  • •1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • •1 egg
  • •1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • •1/4 teaspoon salt
  • •1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • •2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • •1 lemon

Directions

  1. 1Cut halloumi cheese into 1/4-inch thick slices or sticks.
  2. 2Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with salt and pepper, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs.
  3. 3Coat each cheese piece in flour, then dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently.
  4. 4Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. 5Fry cheese pieces for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. 6Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

💡 Halloumi browns well because it does not melt, but it becomes rubbery with prolonged frying. Cook only until each side develops colour.
