Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 lb ground pork
  • 2 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

  1. 1Soak the bread in milk for 3 minutes, then squeeze it gently and tear it into small pieces.
  2. 2Mix beef, pork, soaked bread, onion, egg, mustard, marjoram, parsley, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. 3Shape the mixture into eight flattened oval patties.
  4. 4Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and add the patties without crowding.
  5. 5Cook 6–7 minutes per side until browned and the centres reach 160°F (71°C).
  6. 6Cool completely on a rack before packing for a cold lunch.

💡 Flatten the patties more than burger patties; Frikadellen should cook through before the exterior becomes too dark.
