Ingredients
- •1 1/2 lb baby potatoes, halved if larger than 1 1/2 inches
- •1 cup water
- •3 tbsp soy sauce
- •2 tbsp rice syrup or corn syrup
- •1 tbsp brown sugar
- •2 cloves garlic, minced
- •1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- •1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- •1 green onion, thinly sliced
Directions
- 1Place the baby potatoes, water, soy sauce, rice syrup, brown sugar, and garlic in a wide skillet and bring to a boil.
- 2Reduce to a steady simmer, cover, and cook the potatoes for 12 minutes, shaking the pan once so they cook evenly.
- 3Uncover and simmer 8–10 minutes more, turning the potatoes occasionally, until tender and the liquid becomes a glossy glaze.
- 4Remove from heat and toss the potatoes with sesame oil, sesame seeds, and green onion before serving.
💡 Use waxy baby potatoes rather than floury russets; they hold their shape while the glaze reduces and coats them.
