Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  2. 2Beat in molasses and egg until well combined.
  3. 3In another bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  4. 4Roll dough into 1-inch balls, coat with granulated sugar, and place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  5. 5Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
  6. 6Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
