Greek Lamb Burger

Greek Lamb Burger

Fragrant ground lamb patties seasoned with oregano, garlic, and feta, served on a toasted pita with cool tzatziki and crisp vegetables. Mediterranean sunshine on a bun.

⏱ 30 minServes 4Greek

Ingredients

  • 680 g (1.5 lb) ground lamb
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp each salt and black pepper
  • ½ cup store-bought tzatziki
  • 4 pita bread or burger buns
  • ½ English cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 ripe tomato, sliced
  • ¼ red onion, thinly sliced into rings
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

  1. 1Combine lamb, feta, garlic, mint, parsley, oregano, cumin, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper in a bowl; mix gently until just combined — overmixing makes patties tough.
  2. 2Form mixture into 4 patties about 2 cm thick; make a small dimple in the center of each.
  3. 3Heat a grill or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat; brush with olive oil.
  4. 4Cook patties for 4 minutes per side for medium (68°C internal), or 5 minutes per side for well-done.
  5. 5While patties rest, warm pitas on the grill or directly over a gas flame for 30 seconds per side.
  6. 6Spread a generous spoonful of tzatziki on each pita, then top with cucumber, tomato, red onion, and the lamb patty.

💡 Ground lamb is carried at most major Canadian grocery chains (Loblaws, Sobeys, Metro). If unavailable, a 50/50 mix of ground beef and ground pork makes a delicious stand-in. Kalamata olives and roasted red peppers are fantastic optional toppings.
