Grilled Portobello Mushroom Steaks
Meaty, marinated portobello mushrooms grilled until tender and topped with melted cheese and fresh herbs.

Ingredients
- •4 large portobello mushroom caps
- •3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- •3 tablespoons olive oil
- •4 cloves garlic, minced
- •1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- •1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- •2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- •to taste salt and black pepper
Directions
- 1Remove stems from mushroom caps and gently scrape out dark gills with a spoon; brush caps lightly with oil.
- 2Whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
- 3Place mushroom caps in a shallow dish and brush both sides with the marinade; let sit for 10 minutes.
- 4Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat and grill mushroom caps gill-side up for 4-5 minutes.
- 5Flip caps, top with mozzarella cheese, and grill for another 4-5 minutes until cheese melts and mushrooms are tender.
- 6Transfer to plates, garnish with fresh basil, and serve immediately.
