Irish Wheaten Bread

Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 400°F and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- 2Mix whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar in a large bowl.
- 3Add softened butter and rub into the flour mixture with your fingertips until breadcrumb texture forms.
- 4Pour in buttermilk and stir gently with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms, being careful not to overwork it.
- 5Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round loaf about 1.5 inches thick.
