Ingredients

  • •1 lb ground lamb
  • •1/2 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • •1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
  • •1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • •1/4 cup onion, finely minced
  • •1 egg whole egg
  • •2 tsp ground cumin
  • •1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • •1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • •1 tsp salt
  • •1/2 tsp black pepper
  • •2 tbsp olive oil
  • •1 cup plain yogurt

Directions

  1. 1Mix ground lamb, parsley, mint, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a bowl until just combined.
  2. 2Shape mixture into 16-20 meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. 3Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. 4Fry meatballs in batches for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  5. 5Remove meatballs and serve warm with yogurt sauce on the side, garnished with fresh herbs and accompanied by pita bread.

💡 Kofta stays tender when the meat is mixed only until herbs and spices are distributed; heavy kneading makes it dense.
