Ingredients

  • 300 g short-grain rice
  • 300 g bean sprouts
  • 250 g ground beef
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Directions

  1. 1Rinse the rice until the water runs clear, then drain it well.
  2. 2Brown the ground beef in a dry pot, breaking it up, then season with one spoon of the soy sauce.
  3. 3Add the rice and enough water to sit a centimetre above it. Bring to a boil.
  4. 4Pile the bean sprouts on top, cover tightly, and cook on low for fifteen minutes.
  5. 5Rest off the heat, still covered, for ten minutes.
  6. 6Add the remaining soy sauce, the sesame oil and the green onions, stir through, and serve.

💡 Do not lift the lid while the sprouts steam. They cook in trapped steam, and letting it out leaves them raw and squeaky.
