Ingredients

  • •1 lb ground lamb
  • •1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • •1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • •1 small onion, minced
  • •2 cloves garlic, minced
  • •1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • •1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • •1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • •to taste Salt and pepper
  • •2 tablespoons olive oil
  • •1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

Directions

  1. 1Combine ground lamb, chopped walnuts, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, cinnamon, cumin, allspice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. 2Mix gently until just combined, then form into 16-20 balls about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. 3Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. 4Brown meatballs in batches for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally until golden on all sides.
  5. 5Pour crushed tomatoes into the skillet with the meatballs and stir gently.
  6. 6Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
  7. 7Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, then serve hot with rice or bread.

💡 Finely chop walnuts for lamb meatballs so they disappear into the mixture; large pieces create weak spots where the meatballs can crack.
