Lamb Kofta

Aromatic grilled lamb meatballs infused with spices and fresh herbs, served with warm pita bread and cooling tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, parsley, mint, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. 2Mix the ingredients with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
  3. 3Divide the mixture into 12-16 portions and mold each one around a skewer or into an oval patty shape.
  4. 4Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or prepare a grill to medium-high temperature.
  5. 5Cook the kofta for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and lightly browned on all sides.
  6. 6Transfer the cooked kofta to a serving plate and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  7. 7Serve hot with warm pita bread, fresh vegetables, and tzatziki sauce on the side.
