Crispy golden-fried Filipino spring rolls filled with seasoned pork, vegetables, and wrapped in thin crepe-like wrappers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 20 sheets lumpia wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with water
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. 1Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pan over medium-high heat, then cook minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. 2Add ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in cabbage, carrots, soy sauce, salt, and pepper, then cook for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are slightly softened; let cool completely.
  4. 4Place 2 tablespoons filling on each lumpia wrapper near the bottom, fold sides inward, roll tightly, and seal the edge with cornstarch paste.
  5. 5Heat 2 cups oil in a deep pan to 350°F and fry lumpia in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. 6Drain on paper towels and serve hot with sweet and sour sauce or banana ketchup.
