  • 2 lbs russet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. 1Peel and cut potatoes into 2-inch chunks. Boil in salted water for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender, then drain well.
  2. 2Return potatoes to pot and mash with butter, milk, and sour cream until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. 3Make the gravy by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour to create a roux, stirring for 1-2 minutes.
  4. 4Gradually whisk in broth and milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. 5Season gravy with salt and pepper. Pour over mashed potatoes and serve immediately.
