Meatball Subs

Tender homemade meatballs smothered in marinara sauce and melted cheese on a toasted sub roll.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper

Directions

  1. 1Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl until combined.
  2. 2Roll mixture into 12-16 meatballs and heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. 3Brown meatballs on all sides for 8-10 minutes, then add marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. 4Preheat oven to 400°F and hollow out sub rolls slightly, then fill with meatballs and sauce.
  5. 5Top each sub with mozzarella cheese and bake for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and rolls are lightly toasted.
  6. 6Serve immediately while hot.
