Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb turnips, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar

Directions

  1. 1Place turnips, butter, water, salt, and sugar in a wide skillet.
  2. 2Bring to a simmer and cover.
  3. 3Cook for 12 minutes until the turnips are nearly tender.
  4. 4Remove the lid and increase the heat slightly.
  5. 5Cook for 6–8 minutes until the liquid reduces to a glaze.
  6. 6Toss gently and serve hot.

💡 A wide pan lets the final liquid evaporate quickly enough to glaze rather than overcook the turnips.
