Pan con Tomate with Cured Ham
Crispy toasted bread rubbed with fresh tomato and garlic, drizzled with olive oil, and topped with slices of jamón ibérico for a classic Spanish appetizer or light meal.

Ingredients
- •4 slices rustic bread or ciabatta
- •2 medium ripe tomatoes
- •2 cloves garlic
- •4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- •6 slices cured ham (jamón ibérico or prosciutto)
- •1 teaspoon sea salt
- •1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Directions
- 1Toast the bread slices in a toaster or under a broiler until golden and crispy on both sides.
- 2Cut the garlic cloves in half and rub the cut side vigorously over the surface of each warm toast slice.
- 3Cut the ripe tomatoes in half and rub the cut side of the tomato over the garlic-rubbed toast, allowing the juice and pulp to soak into the bread.
- 4Drizzle each slice generously with extra virgin olive oil.
- 5Sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6Top each slice with folded or crumpled slices of cured ham.
- 7Serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
