Paneer Tikka

Tender cubes of cottage cheese marinated in yogurt and spices, then grilled until golden and smoky.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams paneer cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 large onion, cut into chunks
  • salt to taste salt

Directions

  1. 1Mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin, garam masala, oil, and salt in a bowl to make the marinade.
  2. 2Add paneer cubes to the marinade and coat well. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes, preferably 30 minutes.
  3. 3Thread marinated paneer, bell pepper, and onion alternately onto skewers.
  4. 4Heat a grill pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil it.
  5. 5Place the skewers on the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the paneer is golden and charred marks appear.
  6. 6Turn the skewers occasionally to ensure even cooking and charring on all sides, approximately 12-15 minutes total.
  7. 7Remove from heat and serve hot with mint chutney, sliced lemon, and onions on the side.
