Penne with Meat Sauce

Ingredients
- •1 pound ground beef
- •1 medium onion, diced
- •4 cloves garlic, minced
- •28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
- •2 tablespoons tomato paste
- •1 pound penne pasta
- •2 tablespoons olive oil
- •1 teaspoon dried basil
- •1 teaspoon dried oregano
- •to taste salt and black pepper
- •1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
- 1Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- 2Add ground beef to the pan and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- 3Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Add crushed tomatoes, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 4Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add penne pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and reserve.
- 5Toss the cooked penne with the meat sauce until well combined. Serve in bowls topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
