Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon anise extract
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. 1Preheat a pizzelle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
  2. 2In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3In a large bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then stir in melted butter, vanilla extract, and anise extract.
  4. 4Gently fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. 5Drop 1 tablespoon of batter onto each mold of the hot pizzelle iron, close lid, and cook for 30-45 seconds until golden brown.
  6. 6Remove pizzelles and cool on a wire rack.
  7. 7Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve.
