⏱ 480 minServes 8American

Ingredients

  • 8 lbs pork shoulder
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. 1Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a small bowl to create the dry rub.
  2. 2Rub the mixture all over the pork shoulder, coating it thoroughly on all sides.
  3. 3Place the pork in a slow cooker and pour the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around it. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours until the meat is very tender and shreds easily.
  4. 4Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks, discarding any large fat pieces.
  5. 5Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, stir in the barbecue sauce, and cook on low for 30 additional minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. 6Serve warm on buns or as desired.
